Dr Kelvin Tam is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in shoulder problems. He believes in accurate diagnosis, patient education and aggressive non-operative treatment. If surgery is required, he is able to perform the most advanced minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques.
He performs arthroscopic and open shoulder surgery, including shoulder replacement surgery, as well as treatment of fractures and other problems of the shoulder.
After receiving his medical degree at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Dr Tam joined the Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology in Tuen Mun Hospital and developed his interests and experience in sports surgery, especially in shoulder problems. During his fellowship training, Dr Tam visited shoulder centres in: Calgary, Canada; Nottingham, England; Hokkaido, Japan; Lyon, France and Beijing, China.
Dr Tam is very active in the Orthopaedic community: he is the Vice President of the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association; Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor (Department of Orthopaedics) and Adjunct Assistant Professor (School of Biomedical Sciences) in the Chinese University of Hong Kong; and Honorary Clinical Tutor in the Department of Orthopaedics in the University of Hong Kong.
Dr Tam is based in Hong Kong and is also a visiting consultant at International SOS Clinic Beijing Managed by Raffles Medical and Guangzhou Eur Am International Medical Center.
